18 Techniques Medium Frame Solo Form

Due to the physical limitation, Tai Chi Chuan movements are done in circular motion. Depending on the size of the circle, the circular motion is divided into large, medium and small. Besides its function as martial art application, each circle size has a specific role and objective. The 18 Techniques Medium Frame Tai Chi Chuan solo form is an abbreviated form from the traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan form based on the teaching from Yeung Sau Chung, the oldest son of Yang Cheng Fu. The medium frame form is different from the large frame form which has a primary objective to stretch the ligaments and tendons at the bodily joints to function as martial art fundamentals training. And it is different from the small frame form which has a primary objective to clear the meridian vessels to improve the qi circulation within the body to function as health maintenance exercise. The medium frame form took the best merits of both large frame form and small frame form. With the popularly of Tai Chi Chuan, there are many people wanted to learn it. However, since the pool of the perspective students come from all walks of life with vary physical conditions and abilities, the traditional medium frame form has too much challenge for some of the perspective students.
